Michael Dacey, 78, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Madeleine J. (Martin) Dacey. Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph and Martha (Yattaw) Dacey, he has been a resident of Warwick since 1971. Michael graduated Bryant College in 1964. He was employed as an accountant for 40 years with the former North Safety Equipment Company. Besides his wife he leaves his two sons, Michael D. Dacey and his wife Cheryl, and Paul J. Dacey and his wife Christina. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren, Makenna, Kyle, Evan, Ryan and Jack Dacey. He is pre deceased by his twin brother, Joseph Dacey.
Mike was a sports enthusiast and head coached for over 25 years with the Warwick American Little League and coached many years with CYO basketball. In addition, he was a longtime player in several sports leagues including basketball, softball, and the ITT Grinnell Bowling League for more than 30 years. Mike took up golf later in life and could be found playing several times per week with close friends. Most of all, Mike, Papa, loved spending time with his 5 grandchildren, to whom he never could say no.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 4-7 pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday at 10 am in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane. Internment will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Operation Starfish, c/o Nativity Catholic Church, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, VA 22015 will be appreciated.
