Obituary

Mary Ann (Dutra) Schrader, 91, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 10th after a long illness. Mary Ann was a lifetime member of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church and served there as church soloist, CCD teacher and Youth leader. She was an accomplished vocalist performing in many musical productions and minstrels at the old Jamestown U.S.O. from the late 1940s to late 50s. Mary Ann worked in disbursing at the Newport Naval Base before becoming the secretary to the Public Works Director at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in the 1950s. In 1960, Mary embarked on her greatest journey in life, as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; leaving a legacy of love and Christian faith.
Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Furtado) Dutra of 78 Clarke St., Jamestown. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 55 years Clarence W. Schrader, her sister Alice M. Dutra, her children Mary F. Dick and Joseph C. Schrader and their spouses James L. Dick and Nancy M. Schrader; her grandchildren Mary Miller , Joseph M Schrader and Alisa Mlyniec and great grand-sons Levi and Wesley Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 10am in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Burial will follow in St. Mark Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-7pm in the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown. A reception for family and friends will be at West Kingston Baptist Church, 263 Waites Corner Road, West Kingston, RI at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association-RI Chapter at 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906. (Online donations can be made at www.alz.org/RI).
