Quinn, James J., 97, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at West Shore Health Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Louise (O'Donnell)
Quinn and a son of the late John and Mary (Bramah) Quinn. Mr. Quinn was
employed at Uniroyal and Electric Boat before retiring. He was a WWII US Marine Corps veteran with the 1st Marine Division. He served in the Battle of Okinawa where he received the Purple Heart and the Battles at Peleliu, and Guadalcanal. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia L. Benz and her husband, Robert and Maureen F. Mesh and her husband, Jack; one son, James J. Quinn, Jr.; six grandchildren, Terrance Benz, Mary Louise Miner, Sheila Marie Cienava, Tammy Mesh, Diane Fugate and Kevin Mesh; fourteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Robert, Raymond, John and Anthony Quinn and Mary Lambert.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 6, at 8:45 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory the Great Church, Cowesett Road, Warwick at 10 am followed by military honors. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Burial in RI Veterans Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O.
